About Frank

I’ve spent my career inside the work.

Engineering, design, product, and the messy human systems underneath all of them.

The career

I’m a coach and former product executive with 20+ years of experience building teams and products at companies including Slack, Etsy, and Google.

My career spans engineering, design, and product leadership across startups, scale-ups, and public companies. I’m known for combining deep technical intuition with design sensibility and a sharp sense of product strategy—a blend that shapes my coaching today.

As a self-taught engineer, I joined Google as a UX designer and created the original transit icons for Google Maps. I later joined Etsy as a product manager pre-IPO, where I worked on search and discovery and led the launch of a high-margin, self-serve ad platform for sellers.

I went on to hold VP roles at Betterment, Casper, InVision, and Slack, leading cross-functional teams through periods of rapid growth, product reinvention, and organizational change.

Why coaching

Building products is hard. Leading the people who build them is harder.

Across all of those roles, the hardest problems were rarely technical. They were the disagreement underneath the roadmap, the new role that no longer fit the old identity, the decision that had to survive a room.

Today I work with senior ICs, executives, and founders on situations that are still moving: a reorg, a product bet, a transition, a conversation whose timing matters. I’m a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC). My practice draws on Co-Active training, ICF-aligned principles, and 20+ years of operating experience.

We draw systems, rehearse conversations, pull apart documents, and follow what happened after the meeting. Sometimes I coach; sometimes I share an operator’s read. I tell you which hat I’m wearing.

How I work with leaders

In practice

He combines a natural caring and thoughtfulness with a wealth of professional experience. If this is your first time stepping into a product leadership position, or are just looking for a thought partner, I don’t think you’ll regret giving Frank a try.

Beyond work

A life outside the operating plan.

I write Frank Takeaways, a mildly entertaining newsletter on leadership, product, and the messiness of being human.

I live in Brooklyn with my wife, two young daughters, and an Italian truffle dog that’s not of much use in the city.
