Cooke's inspiration

Sam Cooke performed a Dylan composition in 1964 on the television program Shindig!, shortly before his passing. According to NPR's reporting on this moment, Cooke admired the Dylan song but had mixed feelings about it. As the source notes, "Cooke loved but wished had come from a person of color — so much so that he incorporated it into his repertoire almost immediately."
